Refugee Week
REFUGEE WEEK 2023
Refugee Week Ireland
The first ever Irish Refugee week taking place from the 19-25 June. Refugee week is a festival where we celebrate compassion and connection, and everyone is welcome. Check out what is happening here, and add your own event to the calendar! We want to highlight the quiet and incredibly important work being done all over
Refugee Week
The theme of Refugee Week 2021, ‘We Cannot Walk Alone’, is an invitation to extend your hand to someone new. Someone who is outside your current circle, has had an experience you haven’t, or is fighting for a cause you aren’t yet involved in.
The pack below offers some very useful and practical hints for developing lessons around Refugee Week in the lead up to World Refugee Day on June 20th

Every Refugee Week at hundreds of schools across the country, teachers help children and young people to develop an understanding of refugee experiences that they will carry with them into adult life. There are all kinds of ways schools can get involved in Refugee Week, from holding assemblies and dedicated lessons to taking part in creative activities. This workshop (above) was held with Schools of Sanctuary on 06 May and saw over 100 teachers and supporters come together to share ideas, learning and inspiration ahead of Refugee Week 2021.
